Canada Exports Asbestos

Canada exporting 95% of it’s Asbestos production to third world.?

It doesn’t see a problem with that – Most of its industrial claimants are due to asbestos fibres – but are just being ignored.

Is this in any way ethical or right?

Asbestos is not dansgerous in itself if handled properly. However dangerous manipulation (ripping asbestos from the wall, working without a mask, throwing old asbestos to open garbage dumps) made it illegal in most western countries

Bad Asbestos

Is Fiber glass insulation as cancer causing as asbestos?

As a carpenter, i find myself more times than not installing fiberglass insulation. In poorly ventilated areas and sometimes for up to 3-4 straight… 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week. They make me wear a dust mask but often times i wont use it because it makes the painful job even worse sometimes. Is this stuff as bad for your lungs as some people say?

Fiberglass can be an irritant but is not listed as a carcinogen. You should read the MSDS for the product you are using. Asbestos has a different length/thickness than fiberglass that causes the asbestos to lodge in the lungs.

Litigation Financing - Learn How Get Help

Litigation financing should always be a major concern when getting yourself involved with any type of lawsuit.

Legal proceedings can be extremely costly. Whether you are filing suit against a Fortune 500 corporation or an individual, legal bills often arrive before the proceedings finish. Many individuals find themselves requiring financing.

Attorneys and plaintiffs both have costs which need to be paid during and after legal action. Sometimes these costs are able to be absorbed by the attorney. However, in many cases the attorney may not have the necessary funding to continue. They may need to bring in another law firm or seek litigation financing to assist them in their quest for a successful judgment. One of the most common reasons for needing this type of assistance is for medical bills or daily living expenses. This type of financing is typically sought by the lawyer for their client.

The great thing about financing for litigation is that there is often no demand for repayment if the case is not won or settled. The litigation financing company must only be repaid should the lawsuit be resolved successfully. A loss will result in no repayment being necessary. Financing companies recognize this as a possible problem and will often lower the maximum amount that they are willing to hand over to a client. For example, a client who has a good chance at winning a $5 million case will not be given $5 million. They may be given several hundred thousand dollars in order to tide them through their hard times. The financing company will then tack on an additional set fee or percentage of the amount loaned.

This fee is applied through the use of a lien on the judgment. While there is no judgment at the time the loan is made, it does not prevent the lien from being created against a future judgment. It is important to note that you should consult with your lawyer before deciding to enter into a finance agreement. Your lawyer may be required to co-sign the agreement as well as be reviewed as part of the financing offer. Litigation finance companies will often require that you fill out a number of forms as well as speak to them over the phone.

Another great reason to choose this type of financing is that interest rates on these types of loans are much lower than credit cards. Many individuals choose to use their credit cards to deal with a financial crisis.

This could not be a worse idea! Most financing loans are determined based upon the merits of the case, length of time the case has been open as well as insurance coverage. Other factors may be used to determine which type and amount of financing will be the best for your specific situation.

Litigation financing is often necessary for legal cases that stretch out over a period of time. This financing can ensure that you receive the funds that you need to pay for your day to day expenses. The funding does not charge nearly as much as other loan options. Plaintiffs with excellent cases and good attorneys may receive hundreds of thousands of dollars or more with financing!

Incurable Silicosis - Tips To Help Prevent It & Silica Dust

Silicosis is one of those lung diseases which you wouldn?t want to contract or develop. It?s a lung disease caused by an accumulation of free crystalline silica dust in the alveolar level of the human lungs. Silicosis is widely known to be an occupational disease both in the United States and in developing countries. Sudden or prolonged exposure to silica dust might trigger the dreadful signs and symptoms of silicosis.

The onset of the signs and symptoms of silicosis differ from one patient to another. People who have complicated silicosis have higher concentrations of silica dust particles in the alveolar spaces in the lungs. The alveolar clusters are the basic and smallest unit of the lungs. The accumulation of silica dust inside lungs does not dictate the severity of the signs and symptoms of this chronic lung disease.

The major contributing factor to the severity of silicosis will depend on how fine the crystalline silica particles are in an individual?s lungs. This is why there are people who suffer from acute silicosis. Despite the short and brief exposure to silica, they quickly develop literally ?breath-taking? symptoms week after their brief and short silica dust exposure.

The after exposure of individuals with chronic silicosis might be asymptomatic for a few years. The deadly effects of silicosis unfortunately can only be detected if a big portion of the upper lung walls and cavity have already been covered in massive fibrosis tissues or fibroblasts. In some complicated chronic cases of silicosis, patients have been found to suffer from other chronic lung diseases such as tuberculosis and emphysema as well.

Silicosis had been causing casualties for hundreds of years now. The disease might have developed at the same time human beings started to learn quarrying, mining, and sandblasting. People who are most susceptible to silicosis are workers in these fields of industry.

Unfortunately, silicosis is an irreversible disease. A patient might have acute silicosis or accelerated silicosis, the signs and symptoms are all too similar. The only difference is the extent of lung damage and fibrosis that it surely inflicted the lungs.

Though irreversible, silicosis can be very well prevented. Workers who are at high-risk of exposure to silica dust should follow these precautionary measures so they don?t end up developing this deadly lung disease in the future.

Silica is simply fine dust particles which are found in many naturally occurring substances on Earth. Everybody is exposed to these particles at some points in their lives. The only reason why most people do not develop silicosis is that the particles might be too large to cause an allergic reaction in the respiratory system. This means that large silica particles can be prevented to induce inflammation by the simple mechanism of coughing. Silicosis But if you?re working in a high-risk location where silica particles just seem to float around you all the time, it is highly recommended to incorporate the use of water when drilling through mining grounds and quarries. Water will destroy silica dust easily. This will reduce your risk of inhaling these deadly particles while you?re working.

Some workers rarely use this precautionary measure to inhibit silicosis development. The addition of water while drilling through holes or sandblasting reduces the efficiency and productivity in a worksite.

Some workers would rather risk their health than deal with the tedious job of cleaning up the water utilized while working with heavy machinery which gives off dangerous silica dust particles.Employers on the other hand should consider using the water masks when drilling through mines or sandblasting to reduce their long-term expenses as well. Wasting money away due to expensive hospitalization expenditures and drugs because of silicosis is pricier than prevention measures that are undeniably cheaper in the long-run.

This is a no-brainer prevention measure which every worker should follow if their task entails them to grind through marbles and metallic ores. Additionally, wearing a mask is also recommended for people who are working in mines and quarries. Since their job requires them to work underground or in a dusty field, the accumulation of silica dust in their lungs might be more concentrated in their upper lung areas. To prevent this from happening, it is highly advisable to wear dust mask or a respirator while you?re working at the job site. It might look awkward on your face when you look at the mirror, but that bulky respirator can very well save you from the devastating effects of silicosis.

A standard surgical mask might not be all too useful when working under harsh and dust-filled conditions. They indeed can strain some of the dust particles, but there are far smaller particles that can easily permeate through cheap masks. If this happens, you can still be a likely running candidate for developing not only silicosis, but also chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases like emphysema and bronchitis. These disease conditions will make aggravate or may well result in accelerated silicosis damages and degradation.

Do not hesitate in investing in the recommended respirators used to filter the air your employees are breathing in. You need to realize that your manpower?s health is one of the major aspect why your business is up and running and growing in scale. If your employer, on the other hand, does not want to spend money on these highly recommended breathing masks, you can always purchase one from a home improvement or pharmacy store. Make a conscious effort in protecting yourself from the harmful effects of your occupation. The boss might be a douche, but at least your health will be protected!

When you?re diagnosed silicosis, the best solution is to alleviate the pain and discomfort felt by the patient through palliative treatment. Since silicosis is still listed as an incurable disease, try as many alternatives as you can when it comes to treatment. You might very well find the cure to silicosis by combining multiple drug therapies to tame down the effects of heavy and labored breathing bought about silicosis.Silicosis is a serious occupational hazard to a lot of people. Since it?s incurable nowadays, the best and smartest management to this is to keep the yourself away from such hazardous environments and places as much as possible.

?Prevention is better than cure.? This can be very well applied when it comes to silicosis.

You don?t need to suffer a slow and painful death when you can very well execute techniques and tips which can help you in reducing your risk to contracting a very serious and deadly disease. This disease carries similarities to asbestosis, but they are not the same. We will continue to educate you on asbestosis as well in further articles.

Georgia Mesothelioma Lawsuits Expected to Increase

Researchers expect the number of Georgia mesothelioma lawsuits to rise over the next several decades. Construction debris left by hurricanes is one of the reasons why. The debris is a source of exposure to asbestos.

It can take as long as 50 years before serious asbestos-related illnesses appear. Those illnesses include cancer of the mesothelium and asbestosis. Doctors refer to this long period of time as the latency period. The typical latency period is between 20 and 50 years.

Asbestos fibers are very small and incredibly lightweight. The fibers can become airborne when an insulation board is swept, fire resistant tiles are broken or a building collapses.

Once airborne, the fibers can remain in the air for as long as eight hours. This means that people not involved in an at-risk occupation could be exposed.

The fibers can be inhaled or enter the digestive system when a person consumes contaminated food or touches their mouth after handling something with which the fibers have been treated.

For unknown reasons, the body cannot expel the fibers naturally. They bore their way into delicate tissues and membranes causing inflammation.

Asbestosis is chronic inflammation of the tissues within the lungs caused by inhalation of the fibers. The condition eventually causes respiratory failure.

The Georgia mesothelioma lawsuits concern cancer of the mesothelioma. The only known cause of this rare type of cancer is asbestos exposure. In 1999, the state had 30 mesothelioma-related deaths. Approximately 3000 people per year die from the disease according to 2006 figures.

The figure may actually be higher according to researchers, because the disease is hard to distinguish from other types of lung cancer. Doctors often make the diagnosis based on a person?s history of exposure to asbestos.

The challenge faced by plaintiffs bringing new Georgia mesothelioma lawsuits has to do with what company to sue. Nearly all of the asbestos manufacturers have filed for bankruptcy protection.

For example, Johns-Manville Corporation which owns a plant in Macon filed for Chapter 11 protection in 1983 and again in 1986. The company said they sought ?to put asbestos health claimants on equal footing with all creditors and to provide a fair, systematic way of handling health claims?.

Bankruptcy trusts were created for new plaintiffs, but the amount set aside was far less than what a victim should be entitled to. As a result, some recent suits have named building owners, machinery manufacturers, retailers of asbestos-containing products and even the banks that financed new construction.

One such case is currently on the docket of the Supreme Court of California. How the court rules in that case will have an effect on how future Georgia mesothelioma lawsuits are settled.

How to Avoid Asbestos Exposure - Determine Your Risk level & Safety Measures

You must avoid asbestos exposure that can occur in your home or office building. Any building constructed prior to 1986 should be tested.

Some structures are more likely to be contaminated than others. Practically any building constructed prior to 1980 will contain something that was treated with the flame resistant material. Its use was rampant.

It is found in ceiling tiles and paneling, technical ducts containing electrical wiring and other equipment. The insides of circuit breakers and boxes were treated with it.

Decorative ceilings popular in the 1970s and 1980s were composed of it. The use of asbestos-containing insulation was the rule, rather than the exception. The need for testing should be obvious.

The only way to avoid asbestos exposure is to wear protective clothing and use an appropriate breathing apparatus. When buildings containing the material are demolished, construction crews need to wear the right gear in order to avoid inhaling the fibers.

The fibers can remain airborne for hours. Positive air pressure machines are used to force air into rooms containing the fibers. Special vacuums are used to suck them up. In buildings that are occupied, rooms are sealed using plastic sheeting and duct tape. This protects the occupants as the asbestos-containing materials are removed.

You can avoid asbestos exposure by having asbestos-containing materials removed by a team that specializes in abatement. If removing the material is impossible, the team can encapsulate the fibers using special coatings. This prevents them from becoming airborne.

There is no risk of exposure to asbestos-containing items if the fibers cannot become airborne. For example, if a ceramic floor tile contained the material, it could not cause illness. If the tile was broken, there is a slight possibility that the fibers could become airborne or ?friable?, as it is referred to by scientists.

Avoiding asbestos exposure is essential, because it causes a rare kind of cancer called mesothelioma. It can also cause a lung disease called asbestosis.

It takes decades for symptoms of these diseases to appear. This is one of the things that make the compound even more deadly. People are not always concerned about the risks of handling the material, because there are no immediate symptoms of asbestos poisoning.

Anyone that knows they have been exposed should consult their physician. Early detection of the diseases can help to ensure that treatments are more successful.

If you have consulted your physician and know that you have an illness related to asbestos exposure, you should contact a lawyer. You are entitled to compensation.

Litigation Consultant

A litigation consultant can be truly helpful in some cases. Litigation can be a stressful process both financially as well as physically. There are many uncertainties as well as difficulties that an individual can encounter. Fortunately, a litigation consultant can assist you in determining what the best course of action is going forward for the case. These consultants do charge a consulting fee but the small price that you pay may be well worth the advice that they give you!

These professionals are often lawyers who are looking to make more money on the side or be able to relax. These consultants will dig through boxes of documents as well as detailed briefs. They will look for something that will help the attorney to win a case. This may involve formulating trial strategy as well as consulting on the exact course that a lawyer should take once they enter the court room. However, the depth into which a litigation consultant goes is primarily based upon what they are asked to do.

Most litigation case consultants are under $100 per contract hour. However, they may also charge a set fee for handling each case. This fee may be assigned to the law firm representing their client, who may pass that cost onto their client. These consultants can often mean the difference between winning and losing a case and even the best lawyers sometimes contract a consultant. These individuals are experts in their fields and do whatever they can to help their clients. Just as with any other attorney, these consultants are required to hold up their ethical code of attorney client privilege.

Clients often end up paying less thanks to these professionals. These consultants are able to pour over the documents and evidence that a lawyer has in their possession. A lawyer might take ten hours doing this by themselves but an expert team of two or three consultants might take three hours. The cost is reduced several times over thanks to the fact that the lawyer is charging the lower rate of the consultants as well as the fact that the consultants did not take nearly as long!

A litigation consulting service can also help lawyers to locate expert witnesses for their testimony. For example, a case involving animals may need an expert in the animal to testify to scientific knowledge.

The consulting service would contact a number of experts on the specific animal to find one that would be willing to testify on the client?s behalf as well as set up their arrangements. This service does require that a fee be paid but can be worth it if the experts testimony wins the case.

Litigation consultants handle a ton of grunt work at times. They have the ability to sort through piles of paperwork as well as talk with experts who can make/break cases. It is important to remember that these consultants can only do so much. However, they make the job of the average lawyer much easier as well as save the client thousands of dollars.

How To Tell Asbestos Fibro

Can someone put my mind at rest!?

I am so worried an annoyed. I have just bought a house to renovate, and yesterday my 2 boys aged 11 & 13 knocked down walls in the laundry. My dad tells me today that the fibro we knocked down more than likely contained asbestos. I am know freaking out, and am annoyed at myself for putting my kids in this dangerous environment. Does anyone know how much asbestos you have to be exposed to for it to do damage. I wasnt aware that fibro contained asbestos. I am so worried. Does it effect everyone that inhales it. Can someone please help so I can stop worrying myself sick.

First of all, until you get it checked for asbestos, GET OUT OF THERE.

You don’t want ANY exposure if you can avoid it.

Second, get it checked, of course.

Third, get in touch with your real estate agent and/or the previous owner. I’m pretty sure they’re liable for the removal of asbestos from the house.

Cement Asbestos

cement asbestos
what is plastic cement? does it contain asbestos?

Polystyrene “Plastic” cement is an adhesive used for joining polystyrene parts. The cement contains a solvent that melts the surface of the plastic, allowing the two parts to fuse together. As the solvent evaporates the strength returns to the material, the components having been ‘welded’ together. As with the asbestos stuff, I don’t think the new batches of gun pestic cement has any. The last I know of were supplies that were manifactured before 1991 by subsidiaries of a certain company. These ones contained asbestos. I don’t think they do anymore. It has been rectifed. Plastic cement is available as both gel (tube or gun form) and liquid (bottle with applicator).

how to clean asbestos
I am frantic about possibly inhaling asbestos?

I am having remodling done in my home. The floor tile that was removed contained asbestos glue. The contactor left and did not clean up properly so I cleaned up …holy hell whats gonna happen to me. How much exposure did i need to have, etc.

Just the thought of mesothelioma is scary and I can’t fault you for feeling panicky.
Chances are that you will be okay but you should mention your concern to your doctor and familiarize yourself with the symptoms. There is a lot of information available online. Nobody knows for sure how much exposure will cause the cancer, if you were in close contact with the asbestos, breathing the particles, you would be at risk.
Please learn more about it and stay aware of your health condition.

Mesothelioma Compensation - The Decision To Delay In Contacting Attorneys

Mesothelioma compensation may sometimes be looked at by the asbestos cancer victim as something that can wait while more important matters are tended to.

Many times they feel this way because of the physicians explanation of the treatments that they will be subjected to. Because of the intensity of handling this harsh diagnosis, some feel that the legal side of matters can wait and that they should focus solely on medical treatments and recovery.

But is this the best decision to make?

While that would seem to be an ideal notion, asbestos cancer is a quite unpredictable disease. The pertinent information that you hold concerning your asbestos exposure, including names, dates and locations, needs to be documented in a timely fashion.

Consult Mesothelioma Compensation Attorney

The sooner that you make your first contact and start the legal process the better. Mesothelioma compensation lawyers who specialize in this type of litigation and representing asbestos-exposure victims are very aware of the emotional and physical stress of the treatments that you will receive and of the disease itself. You can expect them to be sensitive to your situation and give thought to what your needs are in regards to scheduling meetings with you, helping you thoroughly investigate your case, documenting the manner in which you were exposed, and the like.

An asbestos cancer attorney will help you understand what documents and legal papers you need to present in order to proceed with a successful lawsuit that can help your family financially in the future. They will mention which tax records you will need, W-2s, social security records and more of which will be necessary. They may request of you names, phone numbers, and addresses of coworkers who have knowledge of your exposure and can serve as witnesses in your behalf. If you were exposed during your time serving in the military, you will need military records for your attorney-at-law.

This sounds like a real pain in the butt, and to be honest it can be. But these are all things that need to be taken care of and you are more likely to have an easier time gathering these things in the present than in the future when the disease is farther advanced.

Your mesothelioma compensation attorney will also be up-to-date on all of the current workers compensation laws, they will be able to answer your questions about workers comp and look into your eligibility for it depending on which state you live in. This is important since each state differs from the other.

As you can clearly see, seeking out mesothelioma compensation can be a trying process. But it is often better to initiate the process quickly, handling meso compensation right from the beginning can have a huge impact on the financial future of your family.

Litigation Support Software Benefits & Advantages

Litigation support software is one of the great advantages that attorneys have over the everyday man. Legal cases can be dragged out over a long period of time. Whether you have a suit filed in a mesothelioma/asbestos-exposure lawsuit or are suing your tenant for back rent, your case may languish for weeks, months or even years. Criminals are the only individuals who are given the right to a speedy trial in the United States, not civil cases that are tried in courts across the country.

There are a number of litigation support software programs that can make a large difference in a lawyer?s day to day work. While most lawyers are part of a firm that have several lawyers, there are some that work by themselves. These single lawyers may or may not have a full time legal assistant to help them! Whether you have a legal brief that must be redacted or a confidential letter that needs to be partially redacted, it is easily done. Simply scan the letter with an OCR scanner and the file can be redacted in a matter of moments. The new file can then be uploaded to an email or printed out to be physically filed with a client or the court. This tool can cost as much as $250 depending upon the version that is selected to be purchased.

Nationwide Legal filing allows lawyers to stop worrying about who or what will file their legal documents. Process servers are available nationwide and even in some international markets. Documents can easily be filed online with certain courts or sent to be filed with servers in the remaining jurisdictions.

It is important to remember that these filing services will charge a fee to file this paperwork but it will typically be the same fee that they would otherwise charge. Best of all, Nationwide Legal Filing gives you five free filings when you purchase the program at its full list price of $500.

Mesothelioma Law Firm

A Mesothelioma law firm is perfectly positioned to file and win legal claims against employers and manufacturers who have put employees at risk to asbestos. An experienced legal team will have a vast knowledge of the laws surrounding Mesothelioma and judgments. These experts can competently steer Mesothelioma patients through the entire process.

Did They Know What They Were Doing?

Studies were completed as early as the 1920?s concerning asbestos health concerns. These early studies showed a direct link between workers dying at a higher than normal rate due to asbestos exposure. Big businesses and major corporations were able to keep the results of these studies from the public eye for over 50 years. Then, in 1977 the ?Asbestos Pentagon Papers? were released that brought this duplicity to light.

At the same time the Asbestos Pentagon Papers enlightened the world to the total disregard many large corporations and businesses have for their employees? health new concern for the illness caused by expose rose. Innovative research was funded and the form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure, Mesothelioma, became a buzz word in legal circles.

Seeking Accountability

When seeking accountability in a mesothelioma claim the plaintiff, or the person suffering from the disease, must prove that his illness is a direct result of asbestos exposure at work. This exposure may have occurred 40 years ago as the disease can lay latent until 20 to 40 years after exposure.

This latency period makes many asbestos poisoning cases more difficult to prove. Within those 40 years a person may have moved, a business may have closed its doors, witnesses can be difficult to find, and even the memories of the mesothelioma patient will have faded.

The Right Law Firm

A Mesothelioma attorney is the best offense against irresponsible employers. Unlike a general law firm, a Mesothelioma law firm specializes in handling these cases. Since the Asbestos Pentagon Papers were unveiled in 1977 over 600,000 court actions have been filed. A lawyer who is up to date on these rulings and other points of case law pertaining to Mesothelioma is better situated to settle the case out of court or try the case in front of a judge.Mesothelioma Law Firm

What does the ?right law firm? look like? There is no standard for Mesothelioma law firms to meet other than those imposed on all lawyers and law firms. However, there are firms that focus only on Mesothelioma cases. In some general firms a lawyer or team of lawyers has been appointed to handle these cases.

Patients who have been diagnosed with this fatal disease are sometimes ready to settle for immediate representation from the first person they meet. Friends and family members should encourage the patient to think of the outcome of the case and to take care when hiring a lawyer. Do not shy away from asking questions such as how many cases the lawyer or Mesothelioma law firm has represented and how many of these cases were found in favor of the plaintiff.

Mesothelioma Cancer Victims - How To Best Deal With Family & Friends

- Mesothelioma Cancer Will Test A Family -

"Our family is a circle of strength and love. With every birth and every union, the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger"

- Unknown Author

In dealing with the initial diagnosis of mesothelioma cancer, one of the first major obstacles in the victim's life is trying to figure out how to explain the horrible news to family and friends. Many times the victim of the disease is selflessly more worried about their family than themselves. Breaking the news about mesothelioma is very difficult to do and each family handles it differently and in their own way, just like each individual who is diagnosed tends to do.

Being that you are explaining these things to family and friends who love you very much. You must expect them to run a wide gambit of emotions as well, in many cases this will include sadness, anger, worry, concern and fear.

If you feel the need to put on a strong face for your family this is a personal decision only you can make, no one knows your family as well as you do and you may deem it necessary to do so.

Mesothelioma Cancer Help from Family Please be cautioned though, that the emotions that your family will feel will likely be very intense, please allow them to express these feelings.

Your best option is to communicate openly and honestly with your family and friends, dealing with them in this frank manner will help them as well as yourself to cope with your diagnosis better. It is wise to discuss every aspect of your upcoming treatment with the adult members of the family. This will help prepare them for the side effects that are expected, the goals of your treatment, and the various treatment options that may be available to you.

Allow your family the freedom to contact your physician if they have questions that you cannot answer specifically or that may need more in-depth answers, this will also allow them to gain familiarity with your doctor and open up lines of communication for the future, which will be helpful. It would be wise to even encourage them to do so.

If you are the family or friend of a loved one who is diagnosed with this mesothelioma cancer, please understand that they will need a lot of help from you. The after effects of radiation and chemotherapy can be very exhausting, your loved one will not be able to keep up with the everyday chores and responsibilities that they were once able to, this is the time that you prove your love to them.

Now is the time to organize your team of willing and capable family and friends, who can take on different job assignments.

Who will help cooking for the family? Who can help the children with homework? Who can help cleaning around the house? These are some of the questions that need to be considered.

If you are not the spouse of the mesothelioma cancer victim, it would be wise to realize that the spouse will be under much stress and will be in need of much practical assistance as well as encouragement. Strive to do your personal best in this regard.

As mentioned earlier, you're sick friend or family member will have times when they are very weak and very tired. Phone tree diagram for family of Mesothelioma Cancer Victim Although you will of course have their best interests at heart and want to talk to them and see them often, please be considerate of the fact that it takes energy to host visitors and even hold conversations for a mesothelioma cancer patient. Surely they will want to hear from you and see you, but it is wise to make this as stress-free as possible for them.

Sometimes it can be difficult to strike a good balance with this because we always want to know how our loved ones are doing. But in a situation like this with mesothelioma cancer, where so many family and friends are all concerned about one person, it can cause and overload of calls and visits if all persons are trying to contact the ill loved one in the same time period.

One great idea that you and the rest of the family can implement is creating a telephone tree.

This will allow the spouse or caretaker of the ill one to keep everyone informed and involved with just a couple of phone calls. These updates can include suggestions as to what is the best time to visit and/or call, or even make it known that such actions are not advised at a certain time.

Telephone trees work well because they create a chain of responsibility to keep the next person informed with a telephone call, this will prevent one individual from being burdened with the responsibility of calling everyone and explaining the same things over and over again. And in this way, everyone stays in the loop with current information about their loved one.

There are so many responsibilities to take care of when you have an ill family member and mesothelioma cancer will really test the strength of a family, hopefully some of these suggestions prove useful for you and yours.

Mesothelioma Clinical Trials For Cancer Information

Clinical trials for cancer have garnered much attention over the years. Some who have been afflicted with mesothelioma have found themselves inquiring of more information on the subject. This article will define for you what mesothelioma clinical trials are.

Clinical trials are experimentations of new and innovative cancer treatments conducted for the purpose of medical research. These trials are critically important for cancer patients and in the medical world in an effort to improve health care and advance in the war against cancer. The effects that these new treatments have on patients are watched and documented very closely. Mesothelioma clinical cancer trials are designed to give information about the most effective and safe methods to treat cancer and answer queries of medical professionals.

Participation in these clinical trials means a variety of things for the patient involved. The main benefit that many patients are attracted to is that they are able to receive the treatments before they are made available to the general consuming public, secondly, they are afforded an opportunity to add to society with their contribution to the field of science.

The FDA monitors these studies and permits certain medical professionals to test promising drugs in trials before they are approved for everyday use.

mesothelioma clinical trials for cancer The first phase of clinical trials is to find out the proper dosage amounts that should be prescribed and take note of all potential side effects. This type of treatment is only offered to patients who have widespread cancer and who have not responded positively to standard treatments. These treatments are only offered to a small number of patients because not much is known about the trial treatment at this stage and the risk of side effects may be higher.

In the second phase, this is the stage where some anticancer activity has been found in the new treatment and is being used to treat the cancer to see how well it performs and to take note of the information pertaining to its safety and effectiveness.

Phase three of the mesothelioma clinical trials for cancer is when the comparing and contrasting begin between the standard current treatment and the new treatment.

During this time the physicians are attempting to discover whether this new treatment can be as good or hopefully better than the one that is being used currently. This is where some amazing discoveries have been made in the past.

These types of clinical trials for cancer patients have two or more treatments that are being compared, and each treatment becomes one arm of the study. Each cancer patient is randomly assigned to a particular group by the clinical trial, neither the doctor or the patient is able to influence which group the patient will be assigned to.

It is against the law for a patient to be entered into a clinical trial for cancer without there written consent.

You can find more information about clinical trials by speaking with your physician or by contacting the cancer information service of the National Cancer Institute. You can reach them by calling 1-800-4-CANCER. Various clinical trials for cancer are underway at institutions throughout the United States. Some people find themselves very wary of mesothelioma clinical trials for cancer. They feel as though they don't want to be used as a "guinea pig" for others' research. This is certainly a valid concern. What will help the cancer patient to decide what is best for them is to have a great understanding of what is involved in each clinical trial in order to make an educated decision, fear of the unknown is often worse than the reality.. It is very important to discuss treatment options with your family and your health care provider, but ultimately the final decision is yours.

Litigation Funding | Financing Litigation Facts

Legal action is one of the most difficult events to have to deal with, many times litigation funding is very necessary. There is a large amount of money as well as many individual's futures on the line. However, the wrong move in a legal battle can lead to a certain loss. It is important that the plaintiff remain strong throughout the battle as well as fiscally responsible. Financing is available for individuals who require a cash flow while their proceedings are moving forward.

Litigation financing also known as a ?legal lien? is a loan that can be taken out by a plaintiff in a lawsuit. This loan is taken out against a future judgment in the lawsuit in which the plaintiff is participating. The amount which a plaintiff can request from a financing can vary based upon a number of factors. First, the financing company will want to know the details of the case. This includes what occurred, the record of the attorney and other details. Information may need to be submitted via email, fax or phone. Once this information as well as if there were any insurance policies or settlements is calculated, the financing company will either extend an offer of credit to the plaintiff or suggest that they look elsewhere for funding.

It is advisable to shop around and look at the rates/fees that other companies charge before using the company that your lawyer suggests. Many litigation funding companies will give the attorney a kickback for sending them new business. Funding companies also may not be giving you the best deal because they do not deal with that type of case. Just like lawyers, some financing companies like personal injury cases while others will deal with accidental death. It is all about finding which company will be the best financing company to use for your particular case.

Litigation funding companies may charge a set fee plus a monthly finance charge. This charge should be no more than 3% of the balance that you have financed. A company that charges you more is not giving you the best possible deal. It is also important that you look at companies that have an established track record. You do not want to receive a certified check only to find out that the company you are working with is a bunch of criminals themselves!

Legal financing can be a great method of resolving your cash flow problems.

Plaintiffs in a case receive the money that they need to pay their day to day costs and only have to repay the amount should they win their case. While there are some costs involved, they are not nearly as high as those in other loans. Best of all, litigation financing can be done quickly with little extra work required. Funds that are received as part of your litigation financing are sent directly to you via check or wire and can be used for any expense that you incur.

Loose Fill Insulation Asbestos

loose fill insulation asbestos
Does vermiculite loose fill insulation contain asbestos and how can it be tested?

Discovered some vermiculite loose fill insulation. How can it be determined if it contains asbestos or not?

If the vermiculite was installed post 1979 then it probably has no asbestos in it, and before that it -probably- does. You can get confidential testing online from labs for a small fee by sending them about a Tablespoon sample in a double ziplock bag. I paid $35 about 5 years ago to have my popcorn ceiling tested but sorry, can’t remember the name of the lab, and now there are dozens.

Mesothelioma Stage 4 Symptoms

mesothelioma stage 4 symptoms
Mesothelioma (What to exspect?)?

My Aunt was diagnosed with this about two months ago. The doctors have told our family it is inoperable. The symptoms she is having now is flluid buildup in her lungs which has to be removed about every 4 days. I wanted to know if anyone knows what to exspect from here. They will give her a kimo treatment in a few days, but I wonder if this will do any good. If anyone can tell me about how long someone with this lives once it gets to this stage. Thank you so much, any help will be greatly appreciated.
I wanted to know is it time to call hospice or how long we should wait?

Rhonda, I am sorry to hear about your aunt. Unfortunately, we do not have an effective treatment for Mesothelioma. Chemo will not cure her if that is what you mean by do any good. They are most likely giving it to her hoping she will respond well and give her more time. Her oncologist will know when it’s time to call hospice. It will largely depend on her response to chemo, her overall health and how much assistance she needs. It is impossible for anyone to know how much time she has without having more information. It is best to ask her oncologist and even then it will only be an estimate. Keep in mind doctors usually give patients and their families information in small doses as telling them everything at once is too overwhelming. You and your aunt should keep a list of questions to ask the doctor at each appointment. Just write them down when you think of them. I hope this helps a little. Best of luck to both of you.

Plaster And Asbestos

plaster and asbestos
how do i get rid of artex on plaster board walls with little damage?

Is it possible to get rid of artex from plaster board walls with little damage? I live in a council property and accepted the house 11 years ago with artex halfway down every wall and on the ceiling in the livingroom. I have been told that I have to ask permission to remove it as it may cause damage and the council will charge me to plaster it. I cant afford to pay a plasterer to do it for me. It has already been tested and cleared of asbestos. The council wont remove it or plaster it for me and if i remove it and it causes damage they will charge me for replastering even although it was the tenant before me that put it up??????
Its definitely artex and on quite thick, have removed the dado rail which was placed just below the artex and already part of the plaster underneith has came away, I am going to try and remove some with the wallpaper steamer tomorrow n see how it goes, but hey ho if it does’nt work will just have to let the council do it n foot the bill.

There is a product on the market for plastering over it – ask in a good hardware shop – B&Q ? – it is meant to be used by amateurs – with a little care you can do it

Mesothelioma Lawsuit

A Mesothelioma lawsuit is the best defense against an employer or manufacturer who knowingly exposed workers to asbestos. Unfortunately, asbestos can still be found in commercial materials today and many have dealt with or are currently dealing with this specific type of case. Feel free to Contact Us if you have serious legal questions that need answering, always free of charge.

The objective of this website is to have a place where men and women can turn to for support and first-hand advice from their peers who are facing or have faced similar issues regarding asbestos-exposure.

A legal claim will help Mesothelioma sufferers recoup lost wages, pay for medical expenses, provide for their families, and encourage manufacturers and companies still using asbestos to cease doing so immediately.

A Rare Form of Cancer

Mesothelioma is a form of malignant cancer. It is considered rare because on average 2,500 cases are diagnosed each year. What is shocking to the general public is that up to 80 percent of these cases are directly linked to asbestos exposure. The symptoms of Mesothelioma normally show up years after exposure.

Mesothelioma Law SuitOn average, 30 to 40 years after exposure a person will begin to experience the symptoms of asbestos poisoning. Concern is rising about the potential number of cases that will be diagnosed in the coming years. Many experts feel that it will no longer be classified as a rare form of cancer when the number of new cases per year increases to 4,000 by 2012.

The Burden of Proof

It is the responsibility of the plaintiff, the person suffering from Mesothelioma, to provide documentation and information about their diagnosis and how it potentially relates to their employer. A diagnosis of Mesothelioma alone does not implicate an employer.

Was there a risk of exposure at a previous job or with a current job? This is the question that must be answered and the reason for filing a Mesothelioma lawsuit. For the employer or manufacturer to be found at fault there must be a clear link between the diagnosis and product or service the person performed.

Taking the First Steps

The first step in beginning the Mesothelioma lawsuit process involves finding the right legal representation. Many law firms are able to take on Mesothelioma cases but it is in the best interest of the Mesothelioma patient to work with a lawyer who has experience in this area.

The finest law firms and lawyers for asbestos poisoning claims will be knowledgeable and experienced. They will have a record of trying Mesothelioma lawsuits with judgments for the plaintiffs.

In addition to finding competent legal representation, a Mesothelioma patient must also educate themselves about the disease and the laws involved. It is important to be conversant with all aspects of the case when working with lawyers. This knowledge will even help if the case goes to court and the patient is required to testify.

Asbestos poisoning patients are encouraged to seek legal counsel in determining the validity of their case. A qualified lawyer can help the patient collect the needed information and documents and even hire medical specialists if needed. Each year the number of Mesothelioma cases due to asbestos exposure increases solely because somewhere along the line an employer or manufacturer ignored the safety of employees. Filing a Mesothelioma lawsuit will not change the medical diagnosis but it can bring peace of mind during a difficult time. Please feel free to CONTACT US TODAY with your legal questions.

Mesothelioma Lawyers | How To Weed Out Ambulance Chasers

In searching for mesothelioma lawyers who are qualified, it is important to be wary of the ambulance chasers.

This article's intent is not to shed a bad light on all attorneys, it is simply to warn those who are in need of competent legal assistance of the pitfalls that are possible to fall into when searching for an asbestos attorney.

Serious injuries and illnesses caused by someone else's negligence are bound to happen no matter how many levels of prevention are applied, and this is one reason why having insurance is so important in our day. With this being the case there are many highly-educated and capable professionals, whose specialty is helping those injured individuals gain the proper compensation from the guilty party at hand. However some attorneys who handle these types of cases are guilty of portraying professionals in this field in a bad light.

HOW?

Well, they accomplish this by behaving as "ambulance chasers"...

If you are not aware of what this is, or what constitutes a person as being an ambulance chaser. We will answer that.

These are unscrupulous lawyers who really care very little to nothing about their clients, in some extreme cases, these individuals have been known to solicit business with terminally ill cancer patients because of having an existing business arrangement with funeral homes. What they are actually trying to do is solicit the victim to the funeral home after death for a commission! Absolutely sickening. But absolutely a reality of the world we live in today.

Instances like these can be quite prevalent in cases of mesothelioma patients, especially when dealing with older veterans who have fallen ill to asbestos exposure. These crooks know that the elderly are sometimes a little less savvy in spotting the new-age bad guys and more trusting of those who are supposed to lend services. So the question is, how can YOU avoid the ambulance chasers?

If you have found a mesothelioma lawyer of interest who you are considering hiring, your first course of action should be to get in contact with the American Bar Association to find the facts on this attorney. The ABA helps greatly in weeding out ambulance chasers and crooks.

Secondly, when you interview your potential mesothelioma attorney you need to grill them with every concern of your from big to small. You need to question, question, question! Many attorneys possess the SKILL to try your case in a court of law, but try to be sure that your asbestos-exposure attorney has the WILLINGNESS and TRUE DESIRE to assist you in procuring the best possible outcome for your case. Ask yourself this question after your meeting with them...

"Do I sense empathy from this attorney?"

This is very important when considering mesothelioma lawyers, they truly need to care about your plight in order for you and your family to be properly taken care of.

Sometimes your gut will tell you that the person is saying all the right things, but they are not to be trusted.

It is always best to go with an educated decision in these matters to avoid having trouble stacked on top of troubles with a shady lawyer. There are far too many important factors to weigh with these types of cases, spare yourself the trouble by doing your due diligence to make sure your lawyer is prepared to attack the necessary and essential elements of a mesothelioma cancer case.
